How to Backup/Export Safari Bookmarks

This article explains how to create a backup of your Safari bookmarks to an HTML file, which can be used for importing into another web browser.

  1. Launch Safari.
  2. Click on "File" from the top menu bar.
  3. Select "Export" from the list.
  4. Select "Bookmarks"
  5. Assign a name to the bookmark file from the "Save As" field. By default, Safari calls the file Safari Bookmarks.
  6. Determine where you want to save the file on your computer by using the up/down arrows from the "Where" field. The "Documents" folder is selected by default.
  7. Click the "Save" button.
